The product of this gene belongs to the integrin alpha chain family. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha subunit and a beta subunit that function in cell surface adhesion and signaling. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate light and heavy chains that comprise the alpha V subunit. This subunit associates with beta 1, beta 3, beta 5, beta 6 and beta 8 subunits. The heterodimer consisting of alpha V and beta 3 subunits is also known as the vitronectin receptor. This integrin may regulate angiogenesis and cancer progression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Note that the integrin alpha 5 and integrin alpha V subunits are encoded by distinct genes.Immunogen information

Western blot analysis of extracts of various cell lines, using Integrin alpha V (ITGAV/CD51) (ITGAV/CD51) antibody (A19071) at 1:1000 dilution.
Secondary antibody: HRP Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) (AS014) at 1:10000 dilution.
Lysates/proteins: 25μg per lane.
Blocking buffer: 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST.
Detection: ECL Basic Kit (RM00020).
Exposure time: 1s.
Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin-embedded human placenta using Integrin alpha V (ITGAV/CD51) Rabbit mAb (A19071) at dilution of 1:100(40x lens).Perform microwave antigen retrieval with 10 mM PBS buffer pH 7.2 before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
Flow cytometry:1X10^6 Daudi cells (negative control, left) and HUVEC cells (right) were intracellularly-stained with Integrin alpha V (ITGAV/CD51) Rabbit mAb(A19071, 2.5 μg/mL, orange line) or Rabbit IgG isotype control (AC042, 2.5 μg/mL, blue line), followed by FITC conjugated goat anti-rabbit pAb(1:200 dilution) staining. Non-fluorescently stained cells were used as blank control (red line).
